Since we opened our doors in 2007, Green Benefits has enjoyed working with K-12 schools and college across the country. At Green Benefits, we specialize in creating awareness campaigns for green schools, sourcing eco friendly products and providing green fundraising alternatives for groups and green schools tired of traditional fundraising programs.

Prior to starting Green Benefits, founding partner Derek VanDyke, spent over a decade in education working with K-12 and college students, consulted with nonprofit organizations, coached athletics, served at PTA president and actively volunteers in the classroom of his two children. This experience has shaped the programs and philosophy of Green Benefits K-12 green schools and college programs.

Examples Of What Green Schools Are Doing With The Help Of Green Benefits

Pacific Lutheran University - Tacoma, Washington

Take Back the Tap - The Associated Student Government along with the Office of Sustainability at Pacific Lutheran University is working hard to reduce the use of disposable bottle water on campus. Recently the campus retrofitted their drinking fountains with bottle filling stations and now they are offering subsidized water bottles to the student campus. This is a great green schools program.
One Less Cup - Many campuses across America participate in Taking Back the Tap, but Pacific Lutheran University took it one step further with their One Less Cup Campaign. By offering students subsidized high quality stainless coffee mugs the campus hopes to reduce the use of disposable coffee cups used on campus.
Brink Back The Bike - The latest iniatieve of the progressive Pacific Lutheran University is the creation of the campus bike coop. This program is aimed at fostering the use of peddle power to move students to and from campus. Working with the college, Green Benefits created this great t shirt printed on recycled cotton and PET plastic to promote their new Bike Coop.

Ames Elementary School - Riverside, Illinois

Reusable Bag Fundraiser - The student council at Ames Elementary wanted a unique fundraiser that the parents would support and would make a positive difference in their community. In 2010, the students at Ames sold high quality reusable bags and met their fundraising goals. The community was so excited about this fundraiser that the student council just recently signed up to repeat this fundraiser after requests from the parents and community.

Eisenhower Elementary School - Santa Clara, California

Book Fair Bag - The Parent Teacher Association at Eisenhower Elementary School was looking for a way to make their school book fair more popular with the parents. The Green Benefits team worked closely with the PTA and created a custom reuable bag with the school logo as a gift for parents that supported the school book fair. The result was their most successful school book fair to date.
